occupygeorge.com – Money Talk

Posted in design, ideas, inspiration, Media by aldorf on October 15, 2011

The Egyptian Revolution used Technology, The Occupy Movement is using creativity and celebrating resistance – and Germany? Germany is still throwing bricks and burning cars… I guess that’s how far we got in terms of evolution. Occupygeorge is a perfect example and this video here about the current civil outrage on WallStreet.

Money talks, but not loud enough for the 99%. By circulating dollar bills stamped with fact-based infographics, Occupy George informs the public of America’s daunting economic disparity one bill at a time. Because money knowledge is power.

Time is Money – “Ten in Three” Idea

Posted in architecture, conference, ideas, inspiration, internet by aldorf on July 27, 2011

There are numerous efforts in the non-profit sector to re-think the way people donate, but not many with a method quite so personal as Taylor Conroy’s. Ten In Three is his initiative to persuade groups of friends to contribute USD 10,000 in just three hours, to be put towards the construction of a new school in a disadvantaged area. Amazing and inspiring idea!

Wow – 1 in every 13 People on Earth are on Facebook. Great Stats Video

Posted in Animation, internet, Media by aldorf on March 2, 2011

Thanks Alex Trimpe for putting this video together. Brilliant work and a helpful source in terms of Facebook stats.

The world is obsessed with Facebook, but it’s hard to fathom just how obsessed until you’ve seen the numbers. Video wizard Alex Trimpe lays bare our collective Facebook-loving souls in a new video called, appropriately enough, “The World is Obsessed With Facebook.”

The stats are beautifully laid out and animated. 500 million active Facebook users. 750 million photos uploaded in one weekend. 48% of us checking Facebook right when we wake up. And if that’s not scary enough, check out Trimpe’s snapshot of the activity on the site every 20 minutes. It’s insane. (via urlesque.com)

Network of contemporary images.

Created in Rouen in 2002 at the initiative of French photographer Charles Fréger, “POC” – standing for “Piece of Cake” – comprises twenty or so young European artists whose preferred medium is photography. The group’s raison d’être is to enable the artists to interact as they create, produce and distribute their works. The permanent links for this exchange network, in the form of e-mail and other multimedia tools, and an efficient website, form the vectors for POC’s activities
