Scrap The Phone Book

Posted in ideas, Media by aldorf on June 20, 2010

“I can’t remember the last time I used a phone book.”

The Yellow Pages industry dropped 540 million printed directories this year. That’s more than one per person. With the Internet available literally in our hands, is this acceptable?

If you are in the U.S., here is a link to be removed from the printed directory mailing list of Yellow Pages

Paperless Petition is a bogus site. All of the information they have collected has NEVER been sent into a publisher.

Yes, the industry printed more than one per person. Do you work in place, live in another, maybe have multiple rooms where a book can be used???

Those books got 12+ billion lookups last year, small businesses invested nearly $32 billion into those ads which have to be working or they wouldn’t spend the money, and where do you think most of that info on the Net you are looking at came from? A Yellow Page industry rep working with that business.
